Slim Aarons (1916–2006) is widely celebrated as a photographer who pioneered the art of capturing “attractive people doing attractive things in attractive places.” Born George Allen Aarons, he began his career in the U.S. Army as a combat photographer during World War II. After witnessing the harrowing scenes of war, Aarons shifted his focus to photographing the lives of the rich and famous, choosing to celebrate beauty, glamour, and leisure instead.

Aarons became known for his sophisticated portrayals of elite society, capturing everyone from Hollywood stars to European aristocrats in candid yet polished settings.
